The Maxcatch 360° Rotary Fly Tying Vise Review
This lovely-looking 360° Rotary Vise from Maxcatch is an exclusive product available on the Maxcatch Official Website. Upon opening the box, the vice was found to be very well packed, with all components demonstrating high-quality manufacturing and a great overall finish.
My Experience: Key Features and Performance
First, let's talk about the rotation. The true 360° rotary action is very smooth, and the tension control means I can set it just right for precise fly rotation. I found the locking mechanism to be great when needed, and it tightens up very well. The full rotary functionality is easy to use; the arm can be quickly adjusted to whatever angle I require, and I appreciate having the option of using the functional rotation handle or the textured area on the main vice to turn the fly.
Then we come to the jaws, which are extremely solid. They deliver a nice, secure grip when holding hooks, which is exactly what you need. The hardened steel jaws and adjustable hinge mean I can securely hold any hook size without issue. On the side, I have that small tightening knob for a light hold, and then for full locking and tightening, you just bring the small lever up. It’s a very solid system.
Finally, the base has a good, stabilizing weight to it, keeping the workstation stable while I'm tying. I really like the three sunken areas in the base; they're useful for keeping my beads, hooks, and other small components organized. Everything is easy to adjust, too, as each part can be tightened and loosened using the two different sized Allen keys that come supplied with the vice.
Summary
The Maxcatch 360° Rotary Vise is a fantastic tool that offers both professional features and smooth performance. Its true 360° rotary action and hardened steel jaws provide a precise and secure tying experience. The heavy, stable base and thoughtful design details, such as the textured turning area and sunken component trays, make it highly functional for any tier.
All in all, this is another fantastic vice that I would easily use as my first or second vice, whether I'm at home or traveling.
